Last Full Day in Maui

After a busy Friday we slept in a little Saturday. At noon, Diane, Klaus, Jason and Oliver headed out for a Zip-Line adventure. We met at the main location Ka'anappali and then shifted into the Eco Van and headed up Mount Kahalawai. We stopped at a half way point and geared up in harnesses and helmets. We then went up to 4000+ feet and started down 1 of 8 Zip lines ranging in length from 800 to 1000 feet and we travelled at speeds up to 50 mph.  We all had a great time and loved the local tour guides and the amazing views from the ex volcano. At the end we dusted ourselves off and headed for dinner at the Hula grill and saw our last sunset on Maui. We will miss this heaven!! We had a great, great, great time!!!!!!! Our plane leaves at 12:30 pm for San Francisco.

We Grew Gills

We spent Thursday morning out in the Pacific Ocean off the island Lanai. We took a ship out of Lahaina and headed out for about 45 minutes to a snorkeling area just off the coast of Lanai. We all jumped in and saw various fish and an amazing coral reef. After lifting anchor we headed out to another spot and snorkeled for a while. A whale shark made an appearance (rare) by our boat and some got a chance to catch a brief glimpse. We missed it but the whole day was amazing. After arriving back in Lahaina, and a great dinner we hit the sack early.

Enjoying Hawaii

We ended Wednesday with a great dinner at Hula Grill in Kaanapali. The dinner table was on the beach. We al had a great time - especially Hans.

Thursday began with Klaus, Diane and Oliver braving the heights para sailing. The view was unbelievable from 400 feet up.  We skimmed the water on the way down to cool us off and then returned to shore. Tomorrow it's off onto a boat that will take us to turtle cove for a 4 hour tour which will include a stop to snorkel to see dolphins and turtles.

Enjoying the Beach

We spent Monday enjoying the Hawaiian beach. We body surfed - or tried, snorkeled and saw some cool fish. The weather was great! We had dinner at a local Italian restaurant with everyone and had a great time.

On Tuesday we started the day with a snorkeling. We saw a tone of reef fish as well as sea turtles. As we continued to dive we came across two large sting rays making their way past us. Hans saw them first hand. What a once in a lifetime experience. It was a bit cloudy, so we are going to go back on Wednesday when the sun really brings out the ocean colors.

We Arrived!!

We  got up at 4:00 (PST) in the morning on Sunday to take the limo to San Francisco to catch our flight to Maui.  We arrived in Hawaii yesterday at 11:00 am Hawaii time after a great flight on a huge Boeing 777.  We went from the airport to Costco to get some food for our condo. After we got to our condo and got settled in, we went straight to the beach for a little while and body surfed because our boogie board were not yet unpacked. Before we went to dinner we saw a beautiful Hawaiian sunset. After that we went to a wonderful dinner and had local fish. We got back to the condo at 9:00 pm and went straight to bed.

Another beautiful day in CA. The day temperatures were in the low 90's and at night into the low 60's. Klaus and Hans took advantage of the pool all day and grew gills. At night we went for dinner and enjoyed a relaxing evening watching the Olympics. We will be re-packing our stuff today so that we will be ready when the limo picks us up at 4:00am to take us to San Francisco for our flight to Hawaii.

A lazy day, great weather, great company, with no schedule made it a perfect day. We ran a few last minute shopping errands and Klaus and Hans spent some time in the pool playing volleyball and basketball with dad. Klaus took the attached photo in Aunt Carlene and Diane's backyard. We will keep you posted as we get closer to our departure to Hawaii on early Sunday morning.
